Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has started investigation on Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), suspecting irregularities in the supply of drinking water distributed by them. The Commission has started this investigation suspecting that the water distributed from the Bode treatment plant of Bhaktapur through the branches of Bhaktapur, Thimi, Baneshwor and Tripureshwor is distributed with the collusion of organisation, office SINGULAR OR PLURAL??? and distribution heads. The Commission also suspects that with the collusion of organisation, office and distribution heads and in co-operation with the plumber, supervisor, valve operator along with other employee of the related branches, they have been taking money in monthly basis from every part of the locality and they are only distributing water in the area which are paying money.

They had started the investigation by appointing Hemraj Bhattarai as the investigating officer. Bhattarai had joined the Commission for some ??? period a few days back from the Drinking Water Corporation itself. According to the Chief Commissioner of the Commission, Mr. Lalit Bahadur Limbu, the investigation has started suspecting corruption in the distribution of water by KUKL.

He said, "we had sent the letter to provide us the detail descriptions, as they are releasing water in the area by collecting money in every locality and are stopping the supply of water where they failed to collect money." He mentioned that he himself became victim by not getting the supply of drinking water.

The employees of the KUKL say that Hemraj Bhattarai, who is the employee of their organisation and who has joined the Commission for some work cannot come as an investigating officer. One employee said the Commission unfairly sent??? Bhattarai to KUKL a few time back for the same work.

The Commission has provided seven days of time period to submit all the descriptions but KUKL has not yet submitted the detailed descriptions. The Commission has demanded the detailed descriptions regarding the measurement of daily water collected in the Bode Treatment Plant, production, daily electricity charge, chemical charge and monthly profit along with other.
