Karnali people oppose selling of Karnali River

People of Accham and Dailekh of the Karnali Pradesh have severely opposed the selling of the Karnali River to India. People, intellectuals and teachers of the 7 VDCs near the project site expressed remorse and opposition that the present government had sold the river to India by taking huge commission.

They said the present government had sacrificed the river under Indian pressure and in the name of change with huge commission. "The party rulers if yesterday sold Koshi, Gandaki and Mahakali and the present ruler sold Karnali," they said and added that they would not let Karnali be sold even if they would have to shed their blood.

Local leaders including Nar Bahadur Rawal, chakra Soni, chhabi Lal Rawal, Khadka Bahadur Shahim Ganbhir Singh BK and others said even if Singha Durbar sold the river they would oppose it.

The People have pasted posters and pamphlets saying 'the government has not right to sell Karnali; we don't want a government that is a broker; abolish the treacherous agreement and others.

Chairman of the Karnali Autonomous council Gorakh Bahadur BC said that they would chase away any worker of the Indian contracting company."No broker of the Indian are allowed to the area," he said.
