10 to over 30 pc hike proposed | Water tariff to go up
POST REPORT KATHMANDU, Nov 26 -
The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanapani Limited (KUKL) is planning to increase water tariff soon. It claims the proposed hike is in line with recommendation of Asian Development Bank, the main donor for Melamchi drinking water project.
KUKL has presented a proposal to this effect to the Water Tariff Fixation Commission. It has maintained that water tariff should be increased by 10 percent for those, who consume 10,000 litres of water. The tariff should be increased by 30.73 percent for those, who consume more than 10,000 litres.
"We are studying the proposal and will take a decision on the matter soon," B.K. Man Singh, chairman of commission, told The Post.
